Forget Health care "reform"; cutting SS would be the work of a *true* death panel. |
|
Social Security is there so retired persons and other seniors and disabled don't starve or have to live on the streets. If we gut that in the name of balancing the budget, that will be the most anti-life thing any administration in the history of this nation could do.

2. Some seniors are already living on the streets! |

We keep hearing reports of 'homeless senior citizens.' Food banks are reporting that senior citizens are often the largest number of people showing up for food assistance.

4. And you can tell a society's values by how it treats its elders. |

That says a lot about America, and little of it good.

3. in my grandfather's day there was no Medicare |
|
Luckily (or was it lucky?) he was a totally disabled veteran from WWI so the VA cared for him.
My grandmother was left living with my uncle who tried the best he could to take care of her.
She died in 1976 and had not been to a doctor in "years" was the story. She had no teeth and had what today is known as Alzheimer's Disease!
Is this what we want to go back too? Having disabled old people that are 1/2 out of it living on next to nothing (she got >$200.00 total from Social Security and the VA combined). If it weren't for her having my uncle and my father looking after her, she'd have ended up on the damn street!
What the hell is the matter with this country? FUCKED UP IMO!!! :argh:

6. You are just being ridiculous |
|
the president is not for cutting social security. If you don't think that there is waste in the system, then you are not being honest. Further, NO ONE from the administration has said that benefits will be cut.

8. No one has said they won't be, either. |

This is an issue that should be a complete non-starter. Why is the administration equivocating on it?
