If you want to escape this madness for a while and have cable TV
Turn on Turner Classic Movies.

I know it's all the oldies, but man, it does clear my head and restore a sense of sanity. I can now see first-hand why so many people went to the movies back in the 30s and 40s, when the shit was splattering off the fan.

If you can't afford cable TV, see if you can catch some oldies on video sites. It really does help me.

:hi:

Just trying to offer something positive in between fits of rage.

7. Movie on now: Duke and James Arness play F.B.I. agents --
who take on Cold War commies in this thriller filmed on location in Hawaii.
I love that channel but I think I'll wait for a comedy!

8. For the last month on Thursday nights they have been airing old horror /sci fi movies.
The really cheap B movies that were a staple at drive-ins during the 50's and 60's. I love that stuff.

10. I'm pretty sure they did.
I think it was last week or maybe the week before that. They had 3 or 4 pics that were also blob type flicks all on one night. One was called "X The Unknown" and another was a Japanese flick called "H Men". Naturally both involved radioactivity.

12. Yep. The Blob was on just a few nights ago.
Even better are silent movies. There's something about silent movies that are very therapeutic. Was it last night?, they had the silent movie version of Sea Hawk on TCM.

18. Well, if you've also got a DVD recorder in your cable box..
One of the nostalgia channels, "antenna TV" or Retro TV, or whatever it's called:

http://myretrotv.com/affiliates.html

goes in streaks. A little while ago their over-night, wee-hours programming was all old movies.
Including a pretty good streak of late 40’s and 50’s film noir gumshoe potboilers. Lately they’ve
gone to more old serials (“Hazel”) but still show some good ones in the earliest hours of the
morning. It’s worth a check of the program lineup if you can TIVO it, or -- if you’re an insomniac
and you’re not going to fall asleep anyway.
