Breaking it down to simple English... |

Life is made up of choices.
You can choose to protect the needy or you can choose to protect the greedy.
The Republicans have said to the world that they do not think the wealthy, the millionaires and the billionaires, have a dog in this fight and they should not have to pay more in taxes. Never mind that it is the wealthy that benefitted the most from the bank bailouts. Never mind that they are sitting on about $2 trillion dollars in cash that they refuse to invest. Never mind that they are paying the lowest tax rates in 60 years.
The Democrats have offered cuts in Medicare and Social Security up to $4 trillion dollars for the next ten years. They only ask that the Republicans offer some revenues (tax increases) to offset some of the painful cuts. Republicans say that if the "loopholes" are closed, then they want a lower overall rate so that everything is revenue neutral. That would still mean that the Democrats would agree to no revenue increases. If there is no more revenue coming in, and it is to remain neutral, what is the point of offering any cuts?
The media will not tell you this but the Republicans are choosing their wealthy friends over the rest of the American people. Everyone should sacrifice except them. Never mind that they and the Republicans got us into this mess to begin with. They had a huge surplus to work with and they squandered it and now they want the most needy to pay for their profligate ways.

2. So, we're offering to cut our most important programs... |
|
So that the rich can continue to amass more wealth?
If I'm seeing this correctly, then let me say: How fucked up are we?
Unbelievable.

5. Democrats should make it clear what side the Repubs are on... |

They had ten years of tax cuts, and they are sitting on $2 trillion in cash, and they still haven't created any jobs. How is it that even more taxcuts will now create jobs?

Really is that simple, While some will hold $35k plate dinners, no one will hold $3.50 plate dinners on a campaign trail.
