Does President Obama Want Bachman/Palin/Romney in the WH?
If it is true that this President is going to try do what Republicans have tried but failed to do for so long, attempt to convince people that SS has anything to do with the deficit and include it in programs targeted for cutting to try to reduce the deficit, it is almost a certainty that enough Democrats and Independents will not vote for him in 2012 to almost guarantee a Republican win.

So, before the voters are asked this question, as I'm sure they will be when they rightfully express their outrage at this latest report of a possible betrayal of the very principles that define the Democratic Party as the Party of the People, I think it's fair to ask President Obama 'do you want Bachman in the WH' in 2012?

I am just hoping it is not true.

Social Security has nothing to do with the Deficit. Why do they keep trying to convince people that it does?

2. I asked the question many will be asking if the reports are true.
Do you seriously think that a Democrat can cut SS and remain in the WH?

Does this President? It's a fair question, imo.

4. I don't know the answer to either of your questions, nor do
I know what will transpire in the next couple of weeks. I'm waiting to see.

The electability question will not be answered until November, 2012, though. I'm absolutely certain of that.

11. Disagree, the electability question will be answered
if Democrats agree to any cuts in Social programs and it looks like that will be obvious fairly soon.

As for waiting, how does waiting help? Now is the time to make it known that there will be consequences for democrats who push Republican ideas. Fortunately it appears people are organizing including members of Congress.

Hopefully they can save the people, the most vulnerable people in this country, from any such draconian policies.

7. The WH is reacting to the outrage over the report on Wednesday
Edited on Thu Jul-07-11 01:20 PM by sabrina 1
that SS and Medicare are on the table for cuts to lower the deficit.

Obama Aide On Social Security Cut Story: It 'Overshoots The Runway'

WASHINGTON -- The Obama administration is pushing back against a Wednesday night report that the president is prepared to offer cuts to Social Security as part of a deal to raise the debt ceiling.

"The story overshoots the runway," said a senior administration official. "The President said in the State of the Union that he wanted a bipartisan process to strengthen Social Security in a balanced way that preserves the promise of the program and doesn't slash benefits."

.......

"There is no news here," Carney said. "The President has always said that while social security is not a major driver of the deficit, we do need to strengthen the program and the President said in the State of the Union Address that he wanted to work with both parties to do so in a balanced way that preserves the promise of the program and doesn't slash benefits."

This is BS, SS has ZERO to do with the deficit. It is not a major, minor or any kind of driver of the deficit. It is a totally separate fund and should not even mentioned in the same sentence as the Deficit.

Confusing the debate even more are the political implications of putting Social Security or any other entitlement reform at the heart of debt-ceiling negotiations

Why has this WH not made clear what everyone knows, these programs, especially SS, have ZERO to do with the deficit, the debt or the debt ceiling.

The words used here will NOT calm anyone down. That they are even being mentioned at all regarding the debt/deficit, and now the attempt to calm things down while still making the claim in a vague way, is absolutely wrong for any Democratic Administration.

10. There is no link for the report on the radio.
I know this was posted here already. Your question led me to believe you were unaware of what is going on, so I reposted it for your benefit.

6. There, that is the correct question.
And he could in fact hand it to the GOP, if not in 2012 then in 2016. If only he will act like a Democrat, however, that won't happen.

9. Yes, it is the correct question. I am sick to death of the voters
being blamed and asked that ridiculous question every time there is a new cave in to Republicans.

If Republicans gain the WH in 2012 these policies, NOT the voters will be to blame.

Apparently there are people here who do not like the question. Sorry about that, but it is going to be asked, unrecs or not.

12. Still searching for a clear statement that SS will not be part
of any talks on the defiict, the debt ceiling or the debt but can only find vague statements that we are misunderstanding the claims. Not at all encouraging.
