Call congress! Right %###@@&& NOW!!!!!!! |
|
Old timers will get the reference. But even if you're not an old timer, call your congress people and the White House (or write them) to register your displeasure wirh any Social Security cuts.
It does matter. They do listen. Please do it.
Thank you for your attention.

That was a funny thread. But this time, we really do have a reason to call.

I'm contacting my congressman even though he is a member of the progressive caucus. They all need to be contacted.

I even found positions on issues that I could actually compliment my Republican Senator and Congressman for. It's nice to be able to thank them before I beg them to do another right thing.

8. Wow. I hope your effort and thoughtfulness |

are effectuve. I have to admit to not being in too thoughtful or polite frame of mind right now, but I am keeping my communications cordial.

9. Mine is a Repub, but I think they should be hearing from the |
|
people also. Just went to read an article on a Conservative site, and THEY do not want SS cuts. They were slamming Obama for considering it and calling for impeachment! Lol, maybe it's reverse psychology?

11. The Rs don't want to cut their social security. They want Obama to do it. |
|
When Bush was in office they ran from this issue as fast as their little legs could carry them. That's the aggravating thing about this. They want it, but they refuse to shoulder the responsibility for it.

13. How can he let himsefl be used like that? |
|
I can only imagine that he is so wrapped up in his bubble that he's lost touch with ordinary people completely. And I am trying to be kind here.

17. I'm sure some do, but those you find on rightwing leaning blogs |
|
merely react to whether or not there is a 'D' or an 'R' following the proposals. They probably don't even know that SS is a Democratic program. They think Obama is taking away their benefits and that's enough to set them off as he has a 'D' after his name. So, why not use them and encourage them to call their Reps too?
Why educate them at this point. I used to do that, and then watch them wiggle out of their previous positions. Better to just tell them to call their Repub Reps telling them not to think about touching their SS benefits.

And I'm remembering Sapphire Blue (thanks, Bobbolink).
It is one of my all time favorite DU themes. And the message is important.
