Re: Social Security
I just want to put this out there: If you get to your golden years with little, I am perfectly OK with it if you get more from Social Security than you paid in. If you are lucky enough to retire rich, I think it's OK if you get back less than you put in. Social Security is, basically, insurance against facing extreme poverty in old age. Those who need it less probably should get less.

That's just how I feel.

2. If that's the case, that sucks.
Let's wait for the details, though.

3. You do know that current benefits are weighted so

that those who earn less actually receive a larger return than those who pay in more? The wealthy
are getting less. In addition, if your income exceeds 25K single or 32K married, not a lot of income,
you SS benefit is taxed at your highest marginal rate.

4. Except
We (I'm 38) pay for the elderly. It's not - eh? A matter of how much we put in - it's a matter of those of us 30 some-odd years away from retirement have a duty - to pay for those who paid for our GRANDPARENTS.

And so on and so forth. ;-) But I agree - I'm a high earner. I'm not really looking at that as part of my retirement . . . - but a non high earner peer needs that. They paid for someone else's parents - so someone else's kids have to pay for them.

5. For some, it's the first time in their lives that they've had a steady income.
That they've known where their next meal is coming from, even if cat food.
