"Brian Dickerson, writing for the U.S. progressive liberal website Democratic Underground..."

Saw this references in The National Post and thought it was a little odd.

Did anyone else catch it? Does this person write for DU? What does that even mean?

Here is the full paragraph:

In one of the more telling post-case assessments in the blogosphere, legal commentator Brian Dickerson, writing for the U.S. progressive liberal website Democratic Underground, laid the blame squarely on Grace and her cable-news brethren. “You do not escape a legal abyss as deep as the one Casey Anthony dug for herself without skilled legal representation,” Dickerson wrote. “And in the United States, such representation is available to only two kinds of criminal defendants — those who can afford to hire the full-time services of a good lawyer themselves, and those whose cases are so celebrated that good lawyers are willing to work on them for little or no fee, in the confidence that their labours will ultimately be compensated in some other way.”

Was this a post or a link to an article or what?

2. So he is a writer for The Detroit Free Press?
Weird that he would be identified as writing for DU in that National Post article.

4. Sounds like a misapplied cite
on the part of the National Post. They misread it as a DU article when it was just a referral thread to that article.

9. ... and even sloppier reading on their part
Might be a case of hiring their journalists from their readership.

5. Why was so much time spent making fun of her attorney, Baez.
His criminal law experience was practically nihl. No
Death Penalty experience. He was constantly belittled.

There is truth to the concept that people who can afford
it getting better representation but there is something
to be said about Prosecutors over reaching in Charges
and not proving their case.

12. Good observation
A lot of folks have mentioned that the prosecutor laughed at the defense lawyer during his closing statement which may have had a subtle impact on the jury.
