So, we have met the Rockefeller Republicans and they are us. |
|
So pretending that Obama will not cut programs like SS and Medicare may help you sleep at night, but I for one am not believing it. It will happen. As sure as the sun rises.
When he does, he will be the leader of the New Rockefeller Democratic Party.

|
But they won't.

4. Odd is it not? Just that promise would keep us in power for years. So simple, so right to do... |

7. The thing is, Repukes have already said they want to cut those things. |
|
And it has never been a secret they wanted to do away with them entirely.

5. Actually, the "Rockefeller Republicans" weren't too bad |
|
For example, it could be said that Winthrop Rockefeller, the first Republican governor of Arkansas since Reconstruction (1967-71), was an improvement over his predecessor, Orville "Little Rock Central High Crisis" Faubus.
Nelson Rockefeller was a relatively progressive governor of New York and supported much of the New Deal.
Senator Everett Dirksen of Illinois was instrumental in getting Republican votes to support the Civil Rights Act.

6. Rockefeller was considered a liberal Republican, in the days |
|
when there were liberal Republicans and conservative Democrats (also called Dixiecrats).
So that's not the slur you think it is.
