Name The Entitlement You Would Like To Eliminate...
Edited on Fri Jul-08-11 01:36 AM by jberryhill
I'll give you two, for starters:

That living in the right neighborhood entitles you to decent public schools.

That being male entitles you to higher pay.

1. That the CEO of General Dynamics is entitled to the salary of the size he gets....
particularly since it is almost 100% taxpayer money.

3. The U.S.'s entitlement to play the world's policeman.
Legislators' lifetime benefits, including pension & healthcare. Healthcare insurance should be terminated when legislators leave congress, just as it does when we are no longer employed.

4. Those are not entitlements. Those are unearned perogatives.
don't use Repbublican definitions.

Entitlements are GOOD - that are what we DESERVE because of our investment in the system. I go to work - I'm entitled to a paycheck. I make SS contributions - I'm entitled to collect SS benefits.

See how that works?

5. I would like to eliminate the sense of entitlement some Americans seem to have
That they are entitled to a much higher standard of living than the vast majority of people on this planet.

It's obscene what we consume compared to everyone else.

9. By all means...
Feel free to go live in a hut with no electricity, plumbing or medicine...

Follow your thought through to its logical conclusion. What do you want Americans to do? Give away everything to the other 7.whatever billion people on the planet until we are all "equal?" If not what would you prefer?

Even before TARP and the great financial fleecing of America, banks have been some of the largest beneficiaries of corporate welfare on a daily basis.

8. Being elected as a Republican Senator and denying gays their equal rights for 25 years in Congress
And then when you're caught tapping toes in a restroom in an airport with an undercover cop you can make the statement "I'm not gay. I've never been gay."

And expect ANYONE to believe ANYTHING you ever say again!!

However, I want the money I paid into both for four decades returned. Otherwise, I believe that's called theft.

I believe Tahitinut nailed it down quite well why they refer to it as an entitlement to begin with.

26. First one is EASY but the rich won't let it happen...
Fund public schools based on a state wide pool of money and not local property tax. There have been movements in many more liberal states (VT and MA are the ones I know of), but the wealthy always prevent it from happening.

29. Subsidies to Oil Corps.
Just one of many that make no sense.

Amazing to even think of cutting the already tiny and most likely in so many cases, critical to survival, amount of money EARNED by retirees, while refusing to take a dime from the most wealthy people on the planet.

This country is in deep trouble when something so irrational and inhumane could be tolerated at all.
