So Obama has a choice. If he takes on the plutocratic elite out of conviction, and bravery, they could just, again, "push a button" and collapse the economy. This would immediately destabilize the entire governmental system as well, and create such panic and havoc that he would be rendered completely impotent to deal with the crisis. His presidency would be destroyed, and the people (the populace) would have been plunged into serfdom.

3. The Republicans stand to lose everything if they allow a default.

Small businesses will completely fall apart.

No one will be able to afford a loan.

This happened in 1932 -- and a real Democrat won by a good margin and became an even more liberal Democrat than anyone expected.

I would like to see a strong challenge from within the Democratic Party to Obama. I think a challenger could win just based on people power. It would have to be someone who has led a pretty clean life and is idealistic. Perhaps someone who has never held public office, or someone who has held a local public office and has a well-deserved reputation for absolute integrity.

I think such a candidate could amaze everyone.
