My Social Security Email to The White House, my Senators & Congressman
Dear __________:
I am appalled by the recent reports that Social Security & Medicare are now on the table during these debt ceiling talks. Those who are currently receiving or will receive benefits from these programs have EARNED them through their hard work for many years. This is not a gift to the elderly, but rather the "deal" that was part of the payroll deductions from each paycheck from every worker who has played by the rules, worked hard and helped in their own way to build & support this country. Please understand that I will not vote for anyone, Democrat or Republican who choses to make cuts in this social contract. It seems odd that we can somehow find the money for continuous tax cuts for the wealthiest among us & to spend more than the rest of the world combined on weapons of war, but we cannot find the money to support the needs of our citizens.
Sincerely,

1. Now tell the President to tell boehner&cantor that CONgressional pay will be CUT 1st if DEADline is
missed, & the ONLY acceptable change to S.S. & Medicare is raising OR ELIMINATING the payroll income cap.

GAME OVER!

2. Agreed
But, how does he cut Congressional Pay? They are the ones with the purse strings....

I agree the only proper change to SS is to eliminate the caps.

4. Congress does not decide what gets paid first.
That is an administrative function. The president is the administrator.

5. Thanks for sending that. Everyone needs to be doing the same,
in my opinion. My emails went out yesterday morning, and I'll be following them with more.
