Jamaica earned a first in track and field yesterday

JAMAICA were yesterday confirmed as the indisputable sprint capital of the world, at least on the men's side.

Odail Todd's upset win in the men's 100m on yesterday's second day of the 7th IAAF World Youth Championships in Lille, France ensured that every major global men's 100m title belongs to a Jamaican — a first in the history of track and field.

Double world record-holder Usain Bolt is the Olympic Games and IAAF World Championships title holder; Dexter Lee, who was the first Jamaican male global 100m champion when he won the WYC title in Ostrava, Czech Republic four years ago, is the IAAF World Junior champion; Odean Skeen is the Youth Olympic champions, while Lerone Clarke is the Commonwealth Games champion.
