For the record- I lived off Social Security/Disability for 18 months |

It ain't no gravy train.
The thought that there may be even a MODEST cut fails to consider the fact that most people barely survive on it as is.When we ALL see areas where funding CAN be cuts(read:wars)...I fail to understand how we can be expected to justify hurting the frailest of our citizens.
I always thought I was living in a "First-World" Country.
The reality hits me every time I leave my apartment,go to work or even just go to the store.I see people suffering.
I can't stand behind this one.It's NOT why I became a Democrat.

cuts to the education and the safety nets are unconscionable yet supported by our own party.
Not now the party I joined either.

Most who depend on SS and Medicare live on very thin margins. A few dollars determines if they can afford their meds and still eat and pay their utilities. These proposals are frightening a lot of folks out here that are currently on these programs and were recently assured that any changes to entitlements would not affect current recipients.
