Bad Blood: Joyner Blames Smiley for Halperin’s Obama ‘Dick’ Diss

*Whoa, it’s going down. And that’s putting it mildly with the situation between Tom Joyner and Tavis Smiley.

Simply put, Joyner, who served as co-host/MC, along with Angela Bassett at the McDonalds365Black luncheon at the Essence Festival on Friday, is flat out saying that Tavis Smiley along with his “side-piece,” Cornel West is responsible for the climate that’s made it comfortable for Obama haters like Time magazine’s Mark Halperin to call President Obama a “dick.”

The reaction to Joyner’s commentary is bound to be “interesting” to say the least and it’ll be surprising if it doesn’t set off a firestorm of reactions in Black America and beyond.

Halperin's comment is perfectly in line with his past behavior, including previously calling Obama a "pussy". That was before Smiley and West supposedly became "haters".

Joyner is blaming two black men for something that's a white man's fault. :crazy:

I know there's a feud going on, with West and Smiley dissatisfied with Obama, but I don't honestly see how it has any effect on Halperin.

4. Ditto! Tom supported both West & Tavis long after the AA community

kicked 'em to the curb. I'm not sure if it's the Halperin incident, or an accumulation of things. Tom was really good friends with Tavis, West & Sharpton. There's bad blood between West & Sharpton, and I think Tom has seen how disrespectfully both Tavis & West have treated Sharpton as well as the president. Sounds like this may have been his final straw.

7. Mr. Joyner has done lost his damn mind.

He's basically blaming Tavis Smiley and Professor West for creating an atmosphere that let Halperin think he could get away with calling the President a Dick. Only, the people who have created this atmosphere are not Smiley and West but the main stream media who allow that gave that Birther nonsense airtime as though it were legitimate, propped up the tea-baggers as though they were anything more than a bunch of racist asshats.

What Mr. Joyner is really saying is that as black people Mr. Smiley and Professor West should have kept their criticism to themselves because to air any "dirty laundry" was to give the white man an excuse to disrespect the President.

As if Mark Halperin needed a damn excuse. The man called Obama a "pussy" why the hell does Mr. Joyner think that he was just waiting for some prominent black people to publicly disagree with the President in order to call him a "dick?"

Mr. Joyner is basically trying to say that black people who have disagreements with the President should STFU. Yet another point on which he is dead wrong.

Tavis is peeved at the POTUS because he wouldn't attend his Black Union event, and Cornel is peeved because he wasn't invited to the Inauguration. Personal and petty shit. Their "dirty laundry" is just that -- personal and petty shit.
