If the democratic party had any brains they'd be lining up alternatives other than the above two. In my view Clinton, for all the adoration from some dems, lead the party far too right, cozying up to big business. Spare me from the uber rich democrats who are in some ways worse than republicans.
The time is ripe for democratic candidates who will stand up for the dying middle class, the unemployed, the elderly and the sick. Any candidates come to mind?

Under this election scenario, we would get a former Goldman Sachs wizard as Treasury Secretary.

If this poll is any indication, there is good reason to be concerned.
Perfect storm: continuing bad economy, spiraling deficits, high unemployment, high foreclosures, what else?

27. WRITE IN "NO CONFIDENCE" |
|
In all seriousness, what this country needs is a referendum. Im talking a referendum where REAL people get to choose a course for our future. The only way I see this happening is by making a no-confidence vote, or not voting. Although, with 6/10 Americans NOT voting each election, it is clear that this government DOES NOT have the consent of the governed. Which explains why they are so quick to trash our legal system, and international respectability like it were something to cheer.
It would seem that we have tried the idea of one person ruling over 330 million others for quite a while now, and it always ends up with bloodshed abroad, and sell-outs at home. Maybe it is time for a new convention?
The current for-profit, bribery-based form of politics/elections seems to be highly corruptible and attracts the most nefarious of personalities to office. As long as it pays to be heartless, our system will continue to be broken.
As I often say, a privately-financed legislature will never cast off the individuals that paid for them to be there, as long as elections go to whoever fundraises more.
