I don't see anything being covered up here. This is not just a criminal investigation but one with federal consequences and with a lot of loose ends. Having a public official speculate or give false information not only adds to the confusion but could jeopardize any future litigation. They're collecting the evidence, making sure the Is are dotted and I expect we'll get more specific information in the days ahead. Let's see where the evidence leads and leave it to the professionals to get that information.

I'd like to know who, what and why as well, but I'm not ready to join a lynch mob or add to all the speculation that's already out there. Time is always the avenger.

Confirming that the suspect has some history of mental issues, the clear implication was that Beck and the hate radio ilk have been egging people like him on to commit acts like this.

He also made a very good point that acts like this increasingly make it difficult for "reasonable" people to try to serve in public office.
