Should the Third Way continue to be allowed to call itself
progressive without challenge? Can you be for "too big to fail", deregulation, and against New Deal structures and policies and labor while still calling yourself progressive and if you can, does the word have any useful meaning?

2. I'm not sure who would disallow that.
You can certainly say they're not progressive, though. But allow is sort of an interesting word. People are allowed to use words however they wish, even incorrectly. So, I'm not sure how you could keep them from doing so. Their web site is really lame.

3. Well, first they demolished any residual meaning in the word "Democrat," so it makes sense
...they'd go after the word "Progressive" next.

After all, Orwell taught us how much control of language matters, in terms of getting away with outrage and atrocity...

5. We can't stop people from lying. You can never be progressive
and believe in 'too big to fail' imo. That is a corporatist's wetdream, sadly made real and hurting the working class everyday it is still in existence.

9. They should not call themselves progressives or even Democrats
They are Republicans. Slightly to the "left" of Teabaggers, but far to the right of Goldwater, Nixon, or even St. Reagan himself.

11. The Third Way/New Democrats/Blue Dogs can call themselves "Progressive"
in the same way that Jerry Falwell can call himself a "Man of God".
Both are laughably untrue,
and dangerously hypocritical.

You will know them by their WORKS,
not by their promises or excuses.

How do you stop a conservative from marketing himself a "Liberal"?
If I could, I would.
I find it insulting to REAL Liberals/Progressive,
and it happens here....a lot.

"There are forces within the Democratic Party who want us to sound like kinder, gentler Republicans.
I want a party that will stand up for working Americans."
---Paul Wellstone

"By their WORKS you will know them."

13. Those of us who trend both progressive and liberal need to distance
ourselves from their policies and the failures brought forth by them. Otherwise, we are just a punching bag for imaginary definitions. You would think people could see by their works they are not. It is a belief in that which is not real.

12. The Turd Way should just call itself
the Turd Way, and we should call them that very loudly, AFAIC.
