Monica Shay, Pratt professor, dies after being shot in Pennsylvania massacre

An East Village woman shot by a vengeful ex-con at her Pennsylvania vacation home died Thursday, bringing the death toll the weekend massacre to four.

Monica Shay, a professor at Pratt Institute's Manhattan campus, died from a gunshot wound to the head at Lehigh Regional Medical Center in Allentown, Pa.

"The Pratt Institute community is shocked and deeply saddened by Professor Monica Shay's untimely death," Pratt President Thomas Schutte said in a statement.

Schutte described Shay, 58, as an "esteemed educator" and an "inspiring" leader who headed Pratt's arts and cultural management program. ............(more)
