Actual Post from another site: Re: Colbert's PAC |
|
"Everything I've seen about Colbert shows he is just a shill for Jon Stewart. I saw through his 'conservative' bent on news/comedy about 6 months after I started watching. The way I interpret it, colbert is going through the whole super pac formation with the FEC just to show what a joke the entire campaigning and election process is.
On the Colbert Report, one set has the fireplace with the latin motto "Videri Quam Esse". This is a backwards version of the North Carolina state motto "Esse Quam Videri". The NC state motto means "To be, rather than to seem to be". The Colbert version translates "To seem to be, rather than to be". Really says nothing more to me than he is just acting out as a conservative for laughs."
6 months??? It took him 6 MONTHS to figure it out????
Wow, I inhabit the same state as this guy... I feel sullied somehow.

7. Ironically, after 6 mo.s he decided he needed to present proof of his "discovery"! |
|
On the other hand... there are still many here who can't be persuaded to provide substantiation for anything... which probably says something about someone, somewhere... :+

12. apparently, a considerable number of conservatives never get the joke |
|
I saw a poll result that indicated a high percentage really believed Colbert to be a conservative.

13. Over a year or so ago, I was giving a friend of my son's a ride home. He and his |
|
family are very conservative evangelical christians.
Stephen Colbert name came up and I had to laugh when he told me how much he and his family admired Colbert and his politics. I tried, gently, to get the teen to understand that Colbert was all sataire... But he couldn't see it.
So many of them just can't see that they are the butt of the joke. I felt a bit sad for him and his family, but I was laughing inside too. It was just too incredible. (I even thought at first the the young man was having me on, but, no. He was serious.)
