1. Good question
Edited on Fri Jul-08-11 09:43 PM by 21st Century FDR
Of course I asked that question on December 12,2000. And then again on March 19. 2003. And then again on November 3, 2004. And again when the Supreme Court struck twice for fascism within a decade and passed the "Citizens United" clusterfuck.

9. Yeah, I'm with you on that....
I can't count how many times over the past decade I've said "this is the breaking point", but it's never happened. There are many reasons for this. Among them: people are distracted by the media machine and are too busy just trying to keep their head above water to pay attention. But when the matter comes down to $$$ and the possibility of losing the funds that they have paid into all of their working lives, maybe eyes will start opening.

elderly unable to afford to eat, much less keep there homes or afford the basic necessities. Do they really what to see grandmas and grandpas out on the streets begging like what was seen during the '30s? Do they really want to go back to that time, all in an effort to keep the wealthy wallets ever expanding and the war machine going? Is their greed really that insatiable?

8. True...according to their warped vision of "god", this is his will...
and they feel they are the "chosen ones"...at least that's what their guidance counselor on C-street tells them.

16. Imo, the only "god" they believe in is a tool to be used to preserve patriarchy ....domination ...
Their "god" is the dollar bill and the power it can buy for them --

15. Unfortunately, think it is ... And, what were the "Bilderbergers" doing recently ....
think they had completely tented the huge building/hotel, whatever where they

were staying to try to be invisible -- and they ignored the protesters -- signs -- etal.

Capitalism is suicidal in its exploitation of nature --

Elites can be very smart about really stupid things!

and no one can see it is close or even a tinderbox. If they could they WOULD set it off themselves for their own managed ends. They are two sides that agree, are becoming an uncomfortable power minority and want someone else to be the scene goat.

11. Well, if we look at the lengths the Egyptians and Libyans have been pushed ...
Edited on Fri Jul-08-11 11:03 PM by defendandprotect
by dictators armed by large countries' supplying weapons --

I don't think they really wanted it but they were so blinded by their

greed and their past ability to hold onto power thru violence -- TORTURE --

and their weapons, that they didn't recognize they were coming into danger.

Otoh, look at Greece and what's been happening in France and UK --

Gradually rightwing has taken hold -- as it has here in US -- presumably

also by lies and deception -- certainly 50 years of rw political violence here --

and certainly stolen elections -- and it looks quite coordinated -- and like

Global Warming it seems to be accelerated.

What are their biggest secrets that they need to keep covered up --

I'd say that Global Warming is the greatest threat to planet and humanity.

They've spent tens of billions over 50 years to lie to the public -- because they

feared what would happen if the public figured it out. Scientists at every level

have been intimidated -- and when they couldn't be -- then the EPA simply changed

their reports.

Two weeks ago Australia reported that their Global Warming scientists were being

threatened -- their lives actually threatened.

In the end these are elites who are "smart about really stupid things" -- like how

to gain control over other people -- and how to dominate and destroy.

And perhaps simply seeing their wealth and power building -- finding themselves in

a position where they can go all the way -- they have decided to do that.

12. Oh, the old money believes in climate change.
I believe that is why they are buying up water rights and land over aquifers like * did years ago. I think that is why they want all the money in the world...to prepare for the storm. And I don't mean God...I mean when the climate tears our world apart and dries up our land and kills all the crops. They want to make sure they are not anywhere near the common folk. They'll be in gated communities over aquifers and bunkers, with their private armies. All that will take money.

14. First, try to stick with Global Warming which makes clearer problem is HEAT ....
In fact, it was the GOP master of propaganda -- Frank Luntz -- who suggested to W Bush

that he change Global Warming to "climate change" -- sounds more natural, doesn't it?

Not sure who you mean by "old money" -- is it Al Gore -- or is it Koch Bros or someone else?

Well, I'm sure they'll need water -- but they'll also need dry land because we are suffering

both flood and drought.

I'd also suspect that they might be safe from us -- but there's no way they can be sure they'll

be safe from Global Warming.

Did you by any chance read Al Gore's Rolling Stone article? *

It's mainly interesting for his description of what's going on politically --

he describes a fascist system without actually using the word -- complete with a

Goebbels' style corporate press -- a "dysfunctional government" -- a Congress controlled

by Oil and Coal industries -- and Congress setting their schedule around their daily

fund raisers -- !!

Gore doesn't make clear either the 50 year delay in Global Warming which means that so

far we have only been feeling the effects of our activities up to 1960 -- imagine all we

did after that time! Of course, the glaciers were melting --

Nor did Gore mention that the melting will bring more earthquakes and more severe

earthquakes -- in fact, earthquakes also generate more volcanic activity.

But Gore is correct -- the only way to get this info out is talking to everyone about it --

whomever you meet!!

How's the art coming along -- politics is interferring with my hobby!!!

:)

If the country collapses into chaos, at least we won't be controlled by Democratic policies and that's all to the good.

19. Sometimes I think that maybe they don't realize what they are sowing...
massive discontent that will lead to unrest.

Do they really realize the possible results of their actions? Or do they fully realize this and are just counting on their private armies to put down any unrest?

Is Greece a trial balloon? How about Wisconsin?

It seems that the RW/corporate oligarchy is becoming more bold as time goes on...throwing up these sudden massive changes to see how the public reacts. Another form of Disaster Capitalism.
