"I'd rather be a really good one-term president than a mediocre two-term president," |

"There's a tendency in Washington to think that our job description, of elected officials, is to get reelected. That's not our job description," Obama said. "Our job description is to solve problems and to help people." http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/01/25/obama-to-diane-sawyer-i-w_n_436185.htmlI guess that depends on what your definition of "really good" is, Mr President. edit to add link.

So who exactly are these 'people' Obama claims to be helping by putting Medicare, Medicaid and SS on the chopping block?

In his mind I am sure he thinks he's been a good president. And that he will be even better in a second term. Imagine if he had a blue congress pushing him to make real progress! His first congress was a shade of blue and much progress was made. Now he is dealing with a congress that has openly stated they want him to fail.
I have a feeling we will crush the republican congress in 2012 and from then on Obama will make us all proud.

He had a blue Congress; and at least a portion of it was pushing him to make real progress.
He didn't give a lot of support to that portion.
I'm not really in the mood to be deafeatist.
I'm not in the mood for cheerleading either.

17. Seriously, with that type of job NOBODY thinks they have been a |
|
good president. Well, except W - I'm sure he thought he did just fine.
But what the President may think of his own job performance is immaterial. It is what the voters think of his job performance that matters.

18. Imagine Obama with no more elections to worry about. |

If this is how he handles the job with a looming election, think of what he'll do as a lame duck.

but only because the other side is running a bunch of brain dead out right frighteneing wack jobs.
Here's My Prediction for the U.S. Future
Boner and the Pres will both blame the House and Senate Dems, for the failing economy and the wars even though they have been either shut out of or blackmailed out of the process entirely, and have no say in the decisions being made now.
The majority of the scrubbed down and brainwashed electorate unable to recognize a con, when its bites them in the proverbial ass, will buy said argument, and give the Pukes both the majority in both the house and the Senate and Obama the Presidency. They think this will be a balanced approach, because they believe Obama will provide opposition to the brain dead Pukes, which IMHO Obama won't. Obama will sign all their legislation, veto none, cause RayGun is his hero.
Then in the 2016 Presidential election cycle Dems will win back the house and the Senate in the next election by promising change, only with a PUKE President, because we will be in an even more dire financial meltdown and people will blame the last President in office Obama. People will also naviely think once again maybe two different sides will actually learn to work together for the good of the country. Yeah right.
It will be the same old same old. PUKES scream and yell for the rights of the rich. Dems offer weak token agruments to help the poor, then shudder and cave and give into the rich.. Nothing changes except for the worst, until this cycle finally can't sustain itself anymore, and we end up in a major Depression, with no FDR on the horizon to bail us out.

14. I don't think it matters. |

I don't object to anything in your predictive analysis.
When Raygun was Pres and the national debt rolled over $1 trillion, I thought we were doomed. It was a mind-boggling number to me then. I haven't seen anything in the last 30 years to cause me to change my mind.
I do admit that I was naive in the sense of not really knowing how large and resilient the US economy was. And I would have laughed at anyone who had told me the world would be willing to extend credit to the US to the tune of $14 trillion.
So, my timing was off. If we haven't completely collapsed by 2020, I'll have missed my more-informed best guess.
But I don't think anything good will occur until we have completely collapsed. The US is past the point of being fixable; it's a complete rebuild.

was to turn innate incompetence and determined mediocrity into transcendent disaster and remarkable evil. Obama likes Reagan so much that you do have to wonder about the mediocrity standard because the most you can say beyond the facade was that Reagan was mediocre from every angle even by the RW standards. Things didn't blow up the planet, we survived his misguided economics and he was just there when Communism fell pretty much on its own deflation and the Conservative Renaissance fraud tumbled with much less drama the Berlin Wall.
Yet that mediocrity was enshrined with vacating of reason itself.

13. How about being honest about this because we all know Bachmann will never be elected? |
|
If the scare tactic bar needs to be set so low with the threat of a Bachmann presidency, then that's pretty pathetic and unbelievable.
The last time a member of the House of Congress was elected president was James Garfield in 1880, so why don't we just give the Bachmann boogeyman a rest?

I've noticed the Obama Administration has always gone out of it's way to announce their independence from the dirty masses who gave him their votes. He bragged about it quite a bit late in the primaries and right after he won the nomination. They seemed to consider it a big selling point, and they've always worn liberal anger like a feather in their caps, boasting about angry people to the President's left.
