Apparently it was Washington Post and all the other newspapers that were parroting the false WaPo article!

Excerpt:

SNIP

Rep. Jim McGovern, D-Massachusetts, said he was caught off guard when he learned the White House was proposing major entitlement reforms as part of a debt limit deal. "All of the sudden, I read this in the paper two days ago that this in on the table and someone is going to come up with a reform in a weekend?" he said.

1. That's Obama's fault, he has not convinced his own that he is firm!
He should have the guys in the Senate convinced that he will not betray CORE democratic principles in order to placate the republicans.

15. Obama should have denied a falsehood prior to anyone making it up, right?

12. This reminds me of the old days at DU
Edited on Sat Jul-09-11 05:18 AM by CJCRANE
when we used to say "it's Clinton's fault" about everything, as a joke/parody of the freepers.

(It's also quite funny that you managed to post it in quintuplicate, like a mantra).

4. The White House disagrees with you.
SNIP

White House spokesman Jay Carney several times during Wednesday's press briefing criticized a report in the Washington Post, saying the reporter "overwrote" it and questioning the motives of the story's sources.

If you wish to believe an UNsourced article, with questionable motives, that is your prerogative.

5. House liberal Democrats and Democratic Senators mobilized today
as well as the liberal think tanks including the Center for Economic Policy Research.

That you'd try to claim at this late hour that this is all some kind of delusion argues a lack of judgment and a slender grip on objective reality.

7. AARP , Nurses Groups, and others came out. with a shot across the bow.
If this was some mistake why did the President not
get to the Microphones and correct the mistake, early
this a.m. It was being discussed at 9:00 am and possibly
earlier.

8. 'mobilized'? Mobilization is what you do when you hear rumours
Such as starting World War One. That various groups have heard the rumours doesn't show there's any substance to them.

What the Washington Post, a paper that can often lean to the right, prints is not 'objective reality'. It's what they use to sell newspapers and advertising.

6. The quote you are holding up is not a denial - it is weasel worded double talk.
They did not say "we categorically deny the accusations". What they *did* say was that the writer made it sound worse than they thought it was.

That means that Social Security is on the chopping block.

14. Jay Carney's about as trustworthy as a used car salesman short on quota.
That's true of any political spokesperson. Their job is spin and damage control, not truth.

I'll believe what Carney's saying when it reconciles with what actual trustworthy human beings are saying.

18. So all Carney had to say was . . .
. . . "Social Security cuts are off the table."

Yes, he's not going to slash benefits. He's agreed to trim benefits by reducing COLA increases. That's a cut by any other name.

16. You can't prove a negative. There is zero evidence the article was factual.
Until you prove it was valid, it is just so many words.

Liars ... they are all liars. It is not my fault. Sorry, but I don't buy it. I have been waiting and listening for some tough talk from our president and it has never come. Besides, why is HE (not a flunky) not speaking clearly and publicly about this issue even now?

13. It was an unnamed source. Not really all that uncommon in this day and age.
I get really sick of hearing stories quoting unnamed sources when they say "someone on Capitol Hill" said this or "someone in the janitor's closet" said that.

Douchebaggery at it's worst!!!
