Hacking scandal: is this Britain's Watergate?
Hacking scandal: is this Britain's Watergate?

David Cameron was forced to cut Rupert Murdoch and his newspaper empire loose from the heart of government yesterday as he tried to deflect public anger about his failure to tackle the phone-hacking scandal.

Mr Cameron turned on Mr Murdoch's son James, saying there were questions "that need to be answered" about his role during the phone-hacking cover-up, and criticising him for not accepting the resignation of News International's chief executive Rebekah Brooks.

He also admitted that his desire to win support from the company's newspapers had led him to turn "a blind eye" as evidence grew of widespread illegality at the News of the World.

2. I think it's way worse than Watergate. This scandal has Global
implications. Murdoch had so much power all over the world, that you have to wonder, could one man possibly have accomplished this all on his own?

The British Parliament were unable to take a single step without making sure they had the 'okay' from Murdoch's Empire.

I remember reading that Tony Blair once took a 24 hr trip after being summoned to a Murdoch event and even took uppers to keep himself awake as he feared not being able to get there.

Murdoch has made and unmade politicians, here and everywhere else so they owe him. But how could one man get this kind of power?

I think there is way more to this story than just a 'hacking scandal' bringing down a tabloid.

Julian Assange said last January that he had 'explosive material' on Murdoch's Empire. So explosive that he was not going to release it but was using it as insurance in case anything happened to him or to Wikileaks.

Why would he choose Murdoch info as insurance if what he has is just a few scandals here and there? By making that announcement he must have known that it would protect him.

He also added 'unless someone else releases first'.

Murdoch is in almost every country in the world. DUer Turborama did some OPs on that a while ago airc.

Murdoch is the Propaganda Arm of Global Capitalism. We used to think it was just the Republican party. And we used to wonder how did all those Conservative leaders get elected in Europe and Australia and elsewhere all at the same time, all willing to go along with the Globalists Agenda?

Maybe we are about to find out.

3. Yes.
Except that in addition it also shows (in case anyone was still wondering) who are the real top rulers here nowadays: not an elected leader like Nixon, but the unelected media moguls.
