Texas’ Blood Lust Causes Diplomatic Crisis, Puts Americans at Risk
Execution of Mexican National has Devastating Implications

The United States is a signatory to an international treaty–the Vienna Convention–that requires any other nation that is a party to that treaty, when a US citizen is arrested in that nation, to advise that US citizen of her right to assistance from US diplomats at the nearest American diplomatic outpost. As one might expect, that requirement is reciprocal; when a foreign national is arrested on US soil, US officials are required to advise that foreign national of her right to the assistance of her nation’s diplomats in this country.

1. Congress made no law that would require states to honor the Vienna
Convention.

Humberto Leal Garcia kidnapped, raped, bludgeoned to death a teen age girl, even leaving a stick insider her. Her parents have some photos, and a mental image of the way he died.

If the decision had been mine, he would have died EXACTLY the same way his victim died.

He chose to perform this atrocity, he paid the price for his actions, but he got off lightly, IMO.

Good for Gov Perry.

One wonders how many would be concerned about a treaty if the child victim had been their daughter.
