I would like to vote more |
|
I would like a REAL say in America. Every day if necessary. My 'representatives' no longer represent me. I am, therefore, being ruled.
Does anyone feel like they have a say in anything anymore?

1. 18th Century governmental structure. 12th Century mentality by the other major party. Guess that |
|
puts our politics early in the 1500s. Are you sure you want a direct vote in America?
I know exactly what you mean about how this seems to be an unrepresentative, undemocratic system.

4. Yes I still want a direct vote. More direct. |
|
It's 2011 we should be voting from our computers and phones.
The Mac shall inherit the Earth.

2. The 1968 Democratic Convention cured me of the notion that we have a say. |
|
Kent State erased any lingering doubts about that particular delusion.

13. Yeah, I remember that well. That taught me how interested politicians are |
|
in participation by any having differing views. It's getting IMO so most of us count as much as ... well, it's all a delusion in our minds. George Carlin had it all together on how much we count.

3. I have always wanted to live in a Democracy too. |
|
I agree, I would vote daily if it was necessary. I even want to be able to vote on designating a state reptile. I don't care what the vote is on. Let me have a say!
This is especially true now when I have Reps in almost all the offices that represent me. And they refuse to represent me!

8. There is a bigger picture |
|
You go to war with the army you have, not necessarily the army you want.
I'd bet that the rich would be paying higher taxes and we'd have a public option if the people were truly given a vote on either issue.

12. Like nothing goes wrong now? |
|
Michele Backmann is a Congresswoman and Rand Paul is a Senator. It's already gone very wrong.

9. I've thought American adults should be able to vote via phone and computer |
|
But on everything. Instead of having our reps vote what they want or 'think' their constituents want, they should actually have their constituents vote via computer on any and all issues. They could then tally up the vote and vote what the majority wants all the time. No guessing. No lobbyists. No self-interest back room dealing and wheeling. Straight to the people and straight back to them.
I think that day will come.
Yeah, there will be some terrible votes if only a small amount of people vote. We got the Gobernator that way, but terrible votes happen now anyway.

11. I'm not represented. My R reps send me letters politely telling me |
|
how stupid I am and then thanking me for my letter, if they respond at all. Sometimes they even send letters thanking you for agreeing with them and supporting them when in fact the letter took the opposite position. I don't think I would be very comfortable with national referendums, for example, on civil rights for minorities.
That said, I feel I have a say in very little. And I do make calls and send letters, but most of the politicians (I think) don't give a crap what "we the people" think or want. Their allegiance is to very big money, power and the next election to keep them accustomed to their cushy lifestyle as career politicians on our tab. What a deal.
