Gay-OK: Marcus Bachmann doesn't "have a problem with" homosexuals who want to "stay" homosexuals

Marcus Bachmann’s clinic practices “reparative” anti-gay therapy: reports

By Kase Wickman
Saturday, July 9th, 2011 -- 12:59 pm

Two reports were published claiming that Bachmann & Associates, the Christian counseling clinic owned by Rep. Michele Bachmann's husband, practices "reparative therapy," or psychological treatment targeted at reorienting homosexuals.

The claim isn't new — in fact, Marcus Bachmann has refuted it in the media for years. In 2006, he told City Pages that his clinic didn't use the controversial therapy.

"Am I aware that the perception is out there? I can't comment on that," Bachmann said. "If someone is interested in talking to us about their homosexuality, we are open to talking about that. But if someone comes in a homosexual and they want to stay homosexual, I don't have a problem with that."

Mother Jones pointed out that this is more than just a problem as a political spouse: Michele Bachmann lists the business among her financial assets, and when she boasts about starting and owning a business on the campaign trail, she's talking about the clinic. The clinic that has suddenly become a much larger liability in her 2012 presidential campaign.

2. Oh, well, that's different.
That's quite possibly worse, if anything can be worse than his already too fucking hate-filled to be believed "treatment".

Instead, he only preys upon individuals who are more seriously struggling with their identity.

Fuckin' great.

Asshole.

3. Donnie McClurkin says the same thing. It is standard con speak.
It is the talking point of the ex-gay industry.

13. And it is an Industry - let's face it, Jesus would have "cured" us for free
if the bible stories were accurate (and if Jesus had ever actually turned any attention on homosexuals) - the ones at the top of these groups have always been all about the money

6. I've always wondered why anti-gay bigots want gays to "convert,"
even if they think it's a choice.

The bigots didn't want interracial marriage...they wanted black people to only marry black people and stay away from everyone else. You'd think these bigots would have a similar attitude with gay people.

Then again, bigots aren't really rational people are they?

11. I see Bachmann and Ted Haggard as twin sons from different mothers

The infamous "Jesus Camp" clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6rSjrBhUIA

Teachings on homosexuality

In 2006, Haggard and his church supported "Amendment 43" to the Colorado Constitution. It provided, "Only a union of one man and one woman shall be valid or recognized as a marriage in this state." Although Colorado law already defined marriage as being between a man and a woman, Haggard and other gay rights opponents sought to enshrine the prohibition in the state constitution. In the movie Jesus Camp, Haggard says, "we don't have to debate about what we should think about homosexual activity. It’s written in the Bible." Although Haggard opposes same-sex marriage, he has suggested that there should be civil unions for homosexual couples.

Under Haggard's leadership, the NAE released "For the Health of the Nation: An Evangelical Call to Civic Responsibility" in late 2004, "a document urging engagement in traditional culture war issues such as abortion and gay marriage but also poverty, education, taxes, welfare and immigration." The NAE has stated that "homosexual activity, like adulterous relationships, is clearly condemned in the Scriptures."
