I'm sure. It's not the answer he'd prefer.

6. CNN's brightest star
It doesn't take a lot of brains to spout propaganda.

7. I tend to agree with him..
Sites like politicalcompass.org have two axes (axises?) for a reason- politics isn't one dimensional, and someone like this guy doesn't fall squarely in any nice bucket (based on what's been attributed to him so far.)

That weighs very heavily in my thinking.

11. Not necessarily..
Giffords took some rather authoritarian stands on topics such as immigration reform.

If this shooter were more libertarian, he could have targeted Giffords for her authoritarian positions.

The two most frequently drawn in axes on a political chart are right / left and libertarian / authoritarian- each axis is independent of the other.

10. Please specify
I have heard ONE thing that suggests left-wing. All else is right wing.

Oh, that's right - the mere use of the word communist in relation to the story outweighs all other evidence showing a right-wing political bent.

14. Take his 'favorite books' list..
As a whole, it covers the spectrum from left to right. Some of the anti-corporate sentiments expressed in his youtube videos (assuming they are actually him) would fit at DU, separated from the rest of the mish-mash of right / loonytarian screeds.

16. ONE book
I see ONE book indicating a potential interest in leftist thought. I see SEVERAL indicating a rightward leaning.

Somehow conservatives are claiming he is leftist because he likes Mein Kampf. Are you arguing that too?

24. Not at all! (and Mein Kampf would lead me to a right / authoritarian bent..)
But, To Kill a Mockingbird? Race equality, class struggle, sexual equality..

Plato's Meno? Pre-enlightenment dialog on what it means to be a contributing member of society.

23. No, but there's only 1 Party
where anti-socilaists/malcontents/violence prone racists, homophobes, and bigots can comfortably identify with.

This guy was obviously delusional and probably had no consistent political ideology....he wasn't a liberal, sounds very much more like a libertarian.

The point is, only one Party accommodates these types of people. I'd wager a Las Vegas bet that, out of the next 10 violent acts against politicians, 8 would be against Democrats. All 10 perps might be nuts, but the overwhelming majority will commit their crimes against Democrats.

In a shallow effort to depoliticize the tragedy. I was cursing at him through the tv.

ONE piece of evidence that indicates left-political leaning against a DOZEN elements pointing right. Yeah, that sounds "Fair and Balanced" to me.

Voted democratic and was supposedly an outspoken progressive. I suspect it's a conservative but I haven't seen proof. Some on DU have posts that can be perceived as advocating violence even against blue dog dems

21. Are you serious?
You want to compare an abherrent incident in the middle of a biology department to an attempt at political assassination.

The last story I found in the Amy Bishop case indicated motive may never be known. This was politically motivated.
