1. I think the whole thing was either a feint or a fairy tale. HEY PITT! Do you think the Republicans |
|
would actually force a debt default?

5. Republicans probably want a short time window on any deal, so they get a chance to do this all again |

soon. And present a new list of demands. What will they be demanding 18 months from now? Ooo I can hardly wait to find out.

7. I thought it was the House that was responsible |
|
to submit all spending bills in a timely manner??
It seems that the House is unable to do their job. That falls directly on the Speaker's shoulders. Boner can not get the job done, he has failed. Boner has shown he is not up to the job of leading the House. Time for him to go back to the bars.........
It is not up to the president to pass a budget.

8. Since the GOP wants NO DEAL, then Obama needs to chose... |
|
take the lead and force the GOP to raise the debt limit as a STAND-ALONE bill.

14. Big Demotion for Boehner |
|
Boehner had just gotten finished telling Obama about what a big deal the Speaker of the House is within his own party. Obama raised his eyebrows and asked, "Can you get them the go for a really big deal?" And Boehner answered, "Sure thing. Just watch."

16. You have to hand it to them |
|
they know how to strategically position themselves to make the opposition look bad, IE: trumpet debt reduction then say the opposition won't do it without raising taxes.

17. Interesting paragraph.. |
|
"Obama, at least, was willing to make that leap and had put significant reductions to entitlement programs on the table. But on Saturday, Boehner blinked: Republican aides said he could not, in the end, reach agreement with the White House on a strategy to permit the Bush-era tax cuts for the nation’s wealthiest households to expire next year, as lawmakers undertook a thorough rewrite of the tax code."
======
They're negotiating the Bush tax cuts??
