FL teachers in private religious school not getting paid. School gets 3 kinds of vouchers.
The school is the Innovation School for Excellence in Tallahassee.

They get money from the state for having a Pre-Kindergarten program. They get McKay Scholarships for students in special education.

They get the Step up for Children scholarships for needy students. I believe they are corporate vouchers like the McKay vouchers. The corporations get tax breaks, and this year alone Florida public schools will lose 31 million in tax revenue as a result.

They also get money from the Early Learning Coalition

This program is a federally funded program that is available to assist low to middle income families with childcare fees. This program caters to all ages including part time assistance for afterschool care for children age 5 and up. In order to qualify, a parent must be employed or receive cash assistance.

Yet apparently the school does not have the money to pay its teachers. The public schools are deprived of the money from these vouchers, yet the school is not paying its teachers.

Accountability appears to be only for public schools.

Here's the video from WCTV.tv.

Note that they locked the door so the reporter could not get in.

School Teachers...We Haven't Gotten Paid

Teachers at a local school say no employees have gotten paid in the last month.

I haven't found an article yet to go with the video, but here is a link to the school webpage.

8. Meanwhile public schools will lose at least 31 milllion this year....
from the corporate tax breaks given to companies paying for these students to go to private religious schools.

There is just so much wrong with that picture.

:hi:

5. I'm in Tallahassee, where there are more churches than people
I'm nauseous when I see churches. It's disgusting. As for this, it doesn't surprise me one iota. The best thing that can happen, is that all churches shut down, and their schools and other such bs shut down with them. After all, churches brought us the past 30 plus years of right wing domination in this country, and all the disaster we're dealing with now.

7. It's that way in Central Florida also. A church on every corner.
Mostly Southern Baptist. They are mostly anti-evolution, anti-women's choice, anti-gay.

I think of the word dominionism often.

14. The more I read of the comments, the more I wonder.
Seems like one school head escorted another off the campus and took over.

I just wonder how much the FDOE is looking into this?
