Columbine begat more school shootings
I fear, being the glass half-empty kinda gal I am, that more sickos will attempt to do the same thing that the alleged suspect did today before this gets better.

I fear that our nation changed today and not for the better.

1. Actually there were several that preceded Columbine
Which the 2 Columbine shootings were probably copying & upping the ante.

Pearl High School shooting Pearl, Mississippi, United States October 1 1997 2
Heath High School shooting Paducah, Kentucky, United States December 1 1997 3
Westside Middle School shooting Jonesboro, Arkansas, United States March 24 1998 5
Parker Middle School dance shooting1 Edinboro, Pennsylvania, United States April 24 1998 1
Thurston High School shooting Springfield, Oregon, United States May 20 1998 2
Columbine High School massacre

But I share your fear.

2. We just heard about school shooting more after C-bine
They did happen just as frequently before that event.

In fact the worst one was the Bath, Michigan school shooting/bombing in 1927.

3. Thanks for the historical info and corrections
However, I feel my fear is a valid one. And it's going to change how we are able to interact with our elected officials. Some will continue to be brave but others will stop meeting in accessible places and some others will probably use this as an excuse to stop meeting with their constituents altogether.

5. I just remembered the other shooting & thinking oh no not another one

And during that time Columbine became the most horrific. The shootings actually seemed to die down somewhat after Columbine.

6. And congress people will mostly become unavailabe to
their constituents. Thanks to this shooter and to all the vitriol before today that they stirred up at town halls and in the streets. I fear this especially for Democratic congresspeople.
