the GOP wants to go back to the deal they walked out on? |
|
they were begging Obama to get involved in the negotiations, and now that Obama has gotten involved they want to go back to the way it was before he got involved?
I have to admit, the GOP looks real bad right now.

2. Giving up a $4 trillion deal they like for a $2 trillion deal they love is idiotic. |

The problem is that they've painted themselves into a corner with the no revenue increase nonsesense.

3. Cantor said he walked out because Biden wanted tax increases |
|
They walked out of the Big Deal because Obama wanted tax increases.
Sounds like they don't want tax increases.
Will Obama give them a deal without tax increases?

I can't think of a single instance in the past 20 years.

5. Yup, they've done/are doing a job on themselves, |
|
their dishonesty and other bad acts catching up on them. We can watch them unravel. The WHOLE thing may take a while, like until after '12 elections, don't mean Presidential but Congressional and Statewide, but seems almost inevitable (but for Supreme's decisions re: campaign finance.)

6. I truly hope they unravel. |
|
It's one thing to blame Obama, but to ignore the consequences of 2010 and the pack of right wingers he got saddled with is something else. I'm only hopeful enough of the center sees the right for what it's doing so we can sweep the right wing obstructionists out the door next election.

8. It's a negotiating strategy |
|
Sometimes, you lurch way off to your own side in a negotiation, then come back to your last bottom-line offer, so that your opponent doesn't try to tinker with it in the final result.
It's the thinking behind 'good cop, bad cop'. Yes, the good cop looks like he beat out the bad cop, but they both got what they wanted when the suspect confessed, thinking he did pretty well in that situation versus what could have happened.
Think about "The Sting". In the end, Doyle Lonigan didn't even have the heart to go after those who cheated him out of his money.

10. I agree. It's just a strategy. The Repukes are great at it, the Dems suck. nm |
