That's one reason why I'll be coming out to vote for President Obama in 2012!

if just for spite. Supreme Court Justices do traditionally have amazing life spans.
Do you understand that the Supreme Court is lost for a generation. Thanks to the Dems for not filibustering Alito. He is the lynchpin of this nightmare. And they folded. Do you think the Pubs would have, if the situation were reversed and the deciding vote were stoppable. Not on your life.
This old dog doesn't hunt. Five four decisions will always hold up. And we will see a lot of them in the coming Presidential term, all to the benefits of the corporations.

2. An excellent reason, too. |
|
Since no primary candidate on the Democratic side seems likely, it's going to either be President Obama for a second term or one of the Republicans. I don't really think any of the Republican candidates is going to appoint SCOTUS justices that will be appealing.
Besides, the real thing in 2012 is the Congress. That's going to be really, really important. More important than people seem to realize.

3. "You vote for the lesser of two evils - you get less evil!" |
|
A remark that someone made at a Democracy for America meetup in KC last week. It's all too true!

And there was one in Kansas City last week? Damn. I missed it.
I need to sign into the Meet-up site and find out if there any progressive Meet-ups in my area.

12. Supreme Court appointments are extremely important. |
|
I have been disappointed in many of President Obama's actions, but his Supreme Court appointments have been good.
