Pawlenty Thinks Scientists are "In Dispute" About Homosexuality
Scientists—like, actual scientists, with real degrees and a belief in the scientific method—agree that people do not choose their sexual orientation. Someone should tell Republican presidential candidate Tim Pawlenty! Because he seems to think that "the science in that regard is in dispute."

This little bit of nonsense came out on Meet the Press, when host David Gregory asked the Minnesotan if "being gay a choice." YouTube

PAWLENTY: Well, the science in that regard is in dispute. I mean, scientists work on that and try to figure out if it's behavioral or if it's partly genetic –
GREGORY: What do you think?
PAWLENTY: Well, I defer to the scientists in that regard.
GREGORY: So you think it's not a choice? That you are, as Lady Gaga says, you're born that way.
PAWLENTY: There's no scientific conclusion that it's genetic. We don't know that. http://gawker.com/5819756/tim-pawlenty-thinks-scientists-are-in-dispute-about-homosexuality">Gawker

as someone at Gawker notes, they are willing to say, "oh, let's leave it up to science" on this--and faulty, fundy science, at that--but when it comes to climate change, not so much.

1. Well in a way they are
Scientists can't decide whether homophobes are really gay and afraid of it or are just ass holes or a combination of both.

3. Yes, but to people like Tim Pawlenty...
Pat Roberton and Jerry Falwell are scientists.

4. It's the same dispute as the others
You know evolution is in dispute ...
and so is climate change.

Whereas nuclear power is unequivocally good and fracking is totally environmentally friendly.

6. Pawlenty's definition of Scientist is the Republican one
To most a scientist is someone who attends a reputable University or College which teaches the current scientific methods. Republican scientists are those who attend places like Oral Roberts or a similar University where they have there own version of science.

In the Evolution issue there are a group of scientist who attended religious based schools where they are told the scientific method (for testing) but only as an unlikely possibility. They then become the small percent who doubt proven science, but since it can be said not all scientist agree it allows them to make Scientific Theory into Scientific Hypothesis. Those scientist are seldom published in peer reviewed literature.

Also, they love to argue that it is just a "theory", but they show their ignorance in not understanding the definition of "Scientific Theory is something which has been proven".

If Republicans don't like the answer, question the source, if it is a reputable source, provide your own.

A friend once told me several years ago, "if science ever proves homosexuality is not a choice it will be because someone like Ted Kennedy paid to have a fake study completed"
