10. Just lower....
than whale shit.

The "bottom of the ocean" part is usually implied.

Maybe what I quoted is the Canadian version.

I quoted Major John "Spanky" Argue around 9minutes 30 seconds in.

6. Except ...
Canada and Britain, where the poor are far better off than the poor in the United States. Just as one example, the porr in Canada and Britain, the poor have access to whatever health care they need, whereas the poor in the United States are likely not to even be able to see a physician, no matter for what reason.

The poor in Canada (as do ALL Canadians) receive Family Allowance ($100 per month per child under age 18) and Old Age Security ($525 per month from age 65) and if their income is below the average, they get Guaranteed Income Supplement after age 65, all of which which moderate "poverty" in Canada.

Basically, the difference between rich and poor in Canada is about 3% of the difference between rich and poor in the United States.

7. Yeah - here we get to starve in comfort.
That is such a crock - you must have never lived anywhere outside the US to say such bullshit.

13. I'm poor. I'd rather be poor here than in most of those countries
and although I haven't lived anywhere but here, I've traveled pretty broadly.

16. And if you were as poor in many, most, other countries as you are in this,
you would have guaranteed health care and a roof over your head.

Time was, we'd 'tut tut' about homelessness in India - then it became commonplace in the US. We have a minimum of 2 million homeless in this country. We have supposedly 14 million unemployed - but there are millions more who have fallen off the radar.

There are a LOT of better places to be poor than the US.

9. Yes Brazil is worse than the US - complete list from my link. HEY! We beat Rwanda!!!
If income were distributed with perfect equality, the index would be zero; if income were distributed with perfect inequality, the index would be 100. The higher the number the higher the inequality.

Namibia 70.7 (#1 most unequal)

Brazil 56.7

Hong Kong 53.3 (#13)

Rwanda 46.8

United States 45.0 (#40)

Cameroon 44.6

Iran 44.5

Nigeria 43.7

Thailand 43.0

Russia 42.2 (#52)

China 41.5 (#53)

Japan 37.6

India 36.8

United Kingdom 34.0

France 32.7

Canada 32.1

Korea, South 31.4 (#106)

Germany 27.0 (#124)

Sweden 23.0 (#1 most equal)

11. South Korea actually has better income equality than Canada, France and the UK.
And South Korea's per capita income is about the same as the EU.

Of course, South Korea and all the other are light years ahead of the US in terms of income equality.
