That kind of sounds like what one might hear on FOX, so I'm a little confused.

2. Obama doesn't care at all about seniors. This has been well documented
he won without them before, the thinks he can do it again.

4. "Meaner" government. The new generational cry of the Democratic Party?
I can't remember him running on that particular idea.

9. They were concepts adopted from parties that were more left than the Democratic Party.
I guess the leadership has decided it would be "historical" to quit pretending that it is a populist party from now on. A lot of people voted in 2008 for a new New Deal, people who used to vote Republican. What are we supposed to tell those people now? Stay and take the same abuse?

11. Social Security and Medicare are third rails of politics to any sane polit.
Medicaid on the other hand is an easy target for those who hate supporting poor people, because those people really shouldn't expect the government to pay for their care -- except of course when Medicaid is used for granny's nursing home expenses after the family has estate planned her into paper poverty.

12. yes, 'sacred cow' is NOT a bad thing-
unless you are a bigot.

:shrug:sacred cow
Fig. something that is regarded by some people with such respect and veneration that they do not like it being criticized by anyone in any way. (From the fact that the cow is regarded as sacred in India and is not eaten or mistreated.) A university education is a sacred cow in the Smith family. Fred is regarded as a failure because he quit school at 16. Don't talk about eating meat to Pam. Vegetarianism is one of her sacred cows.

I don't have a problem with being seen as holding certian issues 'sacred'. Reproductive rights would be another.

13. If they are not then absolutely nothing is.
Since we gave up being against War and for Progressive Taxation, I don't know of anything other than our social programs that are at the very heart of the Democratic Party. What do Democrats stand for in this new millinium? I really, no longer know..

16. Setting the lines between the rainbow Reagan party versus the bigot Reagan party
to take advantage of demographic trends while toeing the corporate line.

PTB for the win either way, baby!!!!

15. No. They are some of the most human-centered policies ever. The idea that you get the very basics
of care and support, regardless of your station in life? How can that be the purview of any one party? How can anyone be against it? It boggles.
