Murdoch's Sunday Times and Sun caught--they published illegally hacked information :0)
Edited on Mon Jul-11-11 11:14 AM by Snoutport
Ah, finally, a little bit of confirmed use of hacked materials in Murdoch's other newspapers. Buried in a story from the Guardian about News of the World hacking information on PRIME MINISTER Gordon Brown:

• Abbey National bank found evidence suggesting that a "blagger" acting for the Sunday Times on six occasions posed as Brown and gained details from his account;

• Brown's London lawyers, Allen & Overy, were tricked into handing over details from his file by a conman working for the Sunday Times;

• Details from his infant son's medical records were obtained by the Sun, who published a story about the child's serious illness.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2011/jul/11/phone-hacking-news-international-gordon-brown

This is important! Murdoch killed the News of the World in hopes that the story would die with it. You don't kill the world's LARGEST newspaper unless you are desperate. Now his other papers are going to be implicated. Even more importantly: Murdoch is burning all of his bridges. Any terminated Newscorp employee can now be a whistleblower and get a chunk of the fines imposed upon the company. There will be a line of screwed-over ex-News of the WOrld employees ready to turn over information.

MSNBC 9:10 a.m. Coverage of the phone hacking on the news. Reporting BSkyB deal has gone shaky. "Spiraling out of control".

2. Maybe that is why Rebekka Brooks is still at NewsCorp....
They can't push her down the elevator shaft if she isn't there.

7. I do believe that the next big news from this will be govt. collusion. or, at least,
full knowledge that Murdoch was doing it for them.

14. He's a tricky bugger
By closing the News of the World his company now owns less than the 40% of UK media market place so the proposed takeover of broadcaster BSkyB wouldn't automatically be referred to the Competition Commission.

He's ditched a company with annual profits of £200m (and falling) in an attempt to take over control of a company with annual profits of £1b (and rising).

20. Too late: it has been referred to the Competion Commission.
Plus there's the OFCom route too (can't broadcast without a licence... even if you're on satellite). Got to be "fit and proper" to hold a broadcast licence...

Hopefully, it spreads to Fox Noise and his other trashy media outlets. :bounce:

24. I haven't watched much of Fox in years. Olbermann is right on top of it.
I hope it caves for them. I'm sure Fox Noise will survive, but Murdoch's power will fail.
