FUCK the department of defense |
|
It's a waste of money
It gets people in other countries to hate us more
It is notorious for bloated budgets
There is no one who is trying to kill us
The DOD is a sacred cow that doesn't deserve its status as such
The Military is a welfare queen
Defense contractors are welfare queens
They all ride high on the hog while we suffer
Fuck it
Our military is a waste of everyone's time, money and attention

If we're talking "shared sacrifices" then how about SHARING the sacrifices?
Besides, I doubt we'd have massive unemployment if we cut 25% of gross operating expenses

17. PUtting another 25,000 or 30,000 won't hurt a bit. |
|
And by the way, private companies that build weapons systems are not members of the DOD, and there are several million people working for them.
I agree that we need to change our priorities in this country. Republicans have acted stupidly in cutting tens of thousands of government employees in the states to save money. We should not advocate kicking more of them out of work because we don't like the DOD.
A massive change in foreign policy done quickly will devastate our economy which is already on very shaky ground. Someone should being a decade long policy to reduce the military and the DOD by at least half.

20. So let them build something that helps this country, rather than destroys it. |
|
High speed rail and national broadband internet come to mind, in terms of bringing this country into the 21st century. And much needed repairs to the existing infrastructure for that matter.
How the fuck is a new bridge in California manufactured in communist China??? How is that NOT an outrage to Democrats and Republicans alike? A bridge, for fucks sake. It's bad enough that the crap that fills a shopping cart at WalMart is made there (and probably the cart too) but a goddamned bridge?
During WWII civilian industries shut down their product lines and converted to "war effort" manufacturing. It's now time to do exactly the opposite. Seize the assets of the criminal "defense" industry, and force them to work for something positive.

21. You are talking about national priorities... |
|
As long as empire is our national priority these companies will exist.
Bridges require a great deal of steel, and a lot of our steel making capacity is gone. China makes it cheap. Until our national policy changes from the pursuit of world power and money to the happiness of our citizens, this won't change.

18. Yep, starts to sound gimmicky, doesn't it. Let's keep these wars going as |
|
long as possible. Many are making big bucks off the MIC. Yep, war for corporate profit, that's what we've got.

19. Add to your list all the secret agencies that have been created to |
|
spy on us, our friends and enemies around the world.
It's been reported (although it's a secret so maybe the numbers are larger) that there are over 1,200 government organizations and almost 2,000 private companies related to "homeland" security and intelligence programs in over 10,000 locations over the US. How many exist outside the US?
New buildings pop up like corn to house all this secret spy "stuff" It was reported on 60 minutes that a 90,000 square foot building in D.C. had been signed up for a 10 year lease but nobody had moved in, instead the spy agency built new digs closer to the Pentagon.
There is no oversight, questions, or examinations of taxpayer funds they get and what they do with the unknown mountains of cash.
We have no idea of what they do with the volumes of documents they collect on us and/or foreigners
Word is that over 850,000 people have top secret clearance to do and collect all this spy work. More people than live in Washington D.C.
Are we safer because of this? Is there redundancy? Is there anything that can slow this evil growth?
