My Congressman will introduce this bill today:
http://thehill.com/blogs/on-the-money/dome...

A House Democrat is signaling that he believes he has the path forward for policymakers squabbling over how to deal with tax revenues in a deficit deal.

Rep. John Tierney of Massachusetts has announced that he is introducing legislation Monday to get rid of close to 30 tax credits and deductions he calls wasteful, saving roughly $60 billion in the first year and some $483 billion over a five-year span.

“Any serious and responsible plan to tackle the deficit must address tax expenditures. Legislation I am introducing today gives negotiators a clear blueprint for how to proceed on this critical issue,” Tierney said in a statement.

I am very happy to call him both "Congressman" and "friend". He really does get it!

1. chump change, we need to stop screwing around and just eat the rich already
tax break for corporate jets, tax breaks for yachts (claiming them as residences and writing off the payments), ....

Fuck em, they reap a great reward by operating here and it's time they pay. Stop trying to balance the economy on the backs of the poor, we've got no money. Take it from the rich, they've got it all.

Who was the guy who was asked why he robbed banks and his reply was "that's where the money is"? Time to take it from the rich, they're the ones holding all of it.

3. I'm getting "Page not found" on the link
I'd love to see what he wants to get rid of. I remember Tierney from when I was staying in MA and he is a good egg.

6. The bottom 90%
Edited on Mon Jul-11-11 03:28 PM by Aerows
Have only 26.7% of the wealth in this nation. That means that the other 10% control 74.3% of it. The top 1% control 34.6% of the wealth.

There is only so much you can spend, and so much you can consume. When 1 person out of 100 people takes 35 slices of the pizza, 9 people take 38 slices of pizza, and 90 people are left to divide up the remaining 27 slices of pizza, it's not really that much of a stretch to realize that somebody is going to go hungry if we don't find a way to get the 1 person to stop taking so much that they don't need. The 9 people taking 38 slices is one thing, but it's the 1 person taking 35 slices that needs to be dealt with first.
