Eisenhower on Social Security...Obama had best heed his words.
Edited on Mon Jul-11-11 07:06 PM by roamer65
"Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes you can do these things. Among them are H. L. Hunt, a few other Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or business man from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid."

Dwight D Eisenhower...Nov 8, 1954 in a letter to his brother Edgar.

1. "Their number is negligible and they are stupid"
But somehow ALL of them are in Washington. I guess if you want to rob a bank, the best way to do it is by owning it.

3. In fairness he isn't saying he wants to abolish it he just wants to jack it around.
Which is bad enough. :eyes:

7. My father gave me a campaign button just like that when I was a kid.
Edited on Tue Jul-12-11 03:27 AM by Rhiannon12866
Last I remember it was in a little dresser with my doll clothes. He also gave me a Kennedy-Johnson button with a picture of them on it. I'm sure he was cleaning something out and passed them on to the kid instead of throwing them away. I wish I could find them today... :hi:

I think it was like this:

10. And didn't he have something else to say about the military-industrial complex?
The man was a visionary. His words need to be heard and heeded by MANY people.

I like Ike, too.
