3. That's probably the point
I have a relative on disability. It's almost impossible to survive on no income for the waiting period...which is the point. Less people to have to approve.

As Stalin was reputed to have said: “Death solves all problems - no man, no problem.”

Funny to see us adopting the same stance...

8. re: "Death solves all problems — no man, no problem."
This actually comes from the novel Children of the Arbat (1987) by Anatoly Rybakov. In his later book The Novel of Memories Rybakov has admitted that he made the quotation up.

11. I heard it might be misattributed to to him
But I'm sure he espoused a similar viewpoint. Millions starving Ukrainians = Thousands of tons of food to export.

A least I didn't do a Godwin

4. My thoughts are with you and your family. I lost my Father several years ago.
It is hard but you will go own.

If you are speaking of repubs, yes they equate death with profits.

I know you will tell us more, when you are ready. I know the pain of the loss of two parents, but
neither were that young. I am so, so sorry.

9. Very cold blooded
My mother died 3 days after her first Social Security check came in. She worked 2 jobs to support us kids. Her body just wore out.

18. What's up with the rumor that Obama offered an age increase for Medicare eligibility?
I cannot believe that they would do that. But there were rumors. What is the point of a rumor being spread on this??

I think it must come from the Republicans.

If not I am horrified.

I took part in a focus group from an outfit in Washington DC - all about raising the age for Medicare.

I was the only one in the room saying it seemed unfair.

All others were simply accepting of the idea and saying they expect to work until 70 anyway..

22. The problem is that a lot of corporations are laying you off at age 55 and sometimes
younger. They want to replace you with young things that will settle for minimum wage. Doesn't matter that they are still living in their parent's basement. You certainly cannot live on minimum wage, unless you work two or three jobs, get no sleep and have a hard time eating when you do have food.

20. Yea, thank god Mrs. WC Green had good insurance when I was
declared disabled. Now, I have Medicare and private insurance and I still have to pay tons of money out of pocket.

I'm sorry for your loss.

the only reason I brought up my situation was to show that there are millions of people out there in your fathers situation.

21. That's why they are doing it.
Both of my grandfathers died in their late sixties, after a lifetime of hard manual labor.

Both were staunch Democrats, by the way, and gave FDR the credit for their having a little something to live on when they retired.

I'm glad they didn't live to see this.
