Republicans are breathing a sigh of relief, everywhere |
|
Obama will get destroyed on the issue of SS and Medicare being cut. He's not going to up benefits when he speaks of changes, he is going to sign a bill that cuts it.
This isn't conjecture out of thin air; in fact the air is getting pretty heavy in my circles that if he cuts SS and Medicare, he's a one-termer.
Health care reform was never his Waterloo, but cutting aid to our most vulnerable of the populace, our mothers and fathers in their elderly year, is the straw that broke the camel's back, IMHO.
I don't know who is advising him, but they are overpaid.

2. Cuts for the least among us, demanded by the President who |
|
rambles on about Jesus when he wants to oppose civil rights, although Jesus said nothing about gay people and did say that if you harm the least among us, that harm is done directly to him. The hypocrisy and double dealing fakery is too much to bear.

SS and Medicare, he WILL be a one-term President. We'll endure President Bachmann, and it will be the fault of people like you that didn't get off of their glad-handing ass and say "Oh wait - this is a very bad idea and people won't vote for you!"

7. They set the trap and Obama strolls right in. |
|
I still say, as politics go, these Republicans are masters.
They take a tremendously popular president during a terrible decline that they themselves created and while openly continuing to encourage further decline they somehow get Obama to do things that will make his own base turn on him.

|
He offered. He started the commission with Simpson and Bowles, two known to wish to cut SS/medicare. He did this all by himself. Let's see if he actually signs cuts. Personally I don't trust him. Given the opportunity he will cut these programs.

the stupidest man alive. Boehner just has to sit back and watch him hand over the election to Republicans.
Boehner rulz!!!! GOP, forevah!
They be the masters!!!!
Who knew the guy who ran a masterful campaign (the current President), accomplished more than most of his predecessors is actually a sucker, at least that what some so-called progressives (who have to lie in their e-mails) would have the entire electorate believe.
There is a certain pathetic desperation to these creative criticisms (lies).

based upon my own feelings, my family and their feeling and my friend's feelings toward any alteration whatsoever of SS/Medicare unless it means more coverage, it's isn't an "Obama Sux" parade.
It's a WTF do you think you are doing to the people who are already vulnerable in bad economy,

in this horrible economy to put LESS money in the hands of the rank and file human beings is an idiot. Clipping SS and Medicare is putting less money in the hands of a rank and file group.
You would have to be high if that seems like an effective strategy to aid the economy.

19. Well, according to Obama Boehner is a nice guy. A guy you |
|
could play a round of golf with. So, if you mean that Obama thinks Boehner 'rulz' that's a bit of an exaggeration, but he likes him and the feeling seems to be mutual. We, the people, not so much! But hey, we are not in their club. Thankfully as far as I'm concerned, I wouldn't WANT to be in a club where ordinary people are merely a commodity to make money from.

But only because this is so useful. President Obama can do things Bush could only dream of.
That and he had Osama Bin Ladin shot. That won the second term right there.
Good reasons? No...but think of what Bill Clinton did on his way out. He repealed Glass-Stegal, opening the door to "Too Big to Fail."
Just imagine what's coming.

15. What did Glass-Stegal have to do with Too Big To Fail? |
|
Edited on Mon Jul-11-11 10:19 PM by Recursion
None of the TBTF firms were covered by Glass-Stegal before its repeal -- in fact, its repeal is the only reason BoA could step in and prevent Merill from collapsing.
The pure investment banks (which except for Goldman all no longer exist now) were not who Glass Stegal regulated.

Obama is trying to be MORE than reasonable and the freaks are saying "no".
When the debt goes into default it will be 100% on the Republicans.
How so many supposedly smart liberals can be so immune to the obvious is beyond me.

I am concerned about his moves and apparent statements from time to time ...
But; You are completely WRONG about what is going on here .... I am not sure where you are receiving your news, but it is not a reliable source ....
I hope the detractors making assertions about these proceedings will be willing to apologize when they prove utterly wrong ....
I know I will be humble, if reality calls for it ....
