End the wars. Close the hundreds of useless military bases we have all over the world. End the cap on Social Security, so everyone pays into it. End the Drug War, legalize pot. Take the profit out of health care, enact Medicare for All, save hundreds of billions each year. Make the rich pay their fair share-go back to the tax rates of 80-90% during the 1950s.
Not only would you be able to pay down the debt, but there would be so much money, we could start investing in free college education, clean energy, and putting the needed $2.2 trillion over 5 years into our infrastructure, and rebuild America.

The the private sector - Wall St & the wealthy, that is - isn't doing that even though they're sitting on trillions of dollars.
The federal govt is the only entity that can.

Which is why we're in big trouble. They keep digging in the treasury and sitting on it. It my as well be numbers on a screen when it doesn't move.
