The Tea Party is the single greatest threat facing this country
Many economists are predicting dire consequences if the US doesn't raise its debt ceiling and defaults on its debt. Interest rates, inflation, unemployment could all skyrocket through the roof.

Obama has already made steep concessions to the repukes in an attempt to reach a deal. What is their response? They're digging in their heels, refusing to even consider increasing taxes on the wealthiest Americans.

In essence, they're holding the American and global economies hostage. All for their own selfish gain.

We all know that repukes don't like to raise taxes. They've never been big on tax increases. But in the past, they've grudgingly gone along with tax hikes. What's different now?

The Tea Party. A small but very vocal group of obstructionists. Despite the fact that we have the lowest tax rates in decades, they think that it's oppressive. These people have no concept whatsoever of history. The people pulling the strings of the Tea Party are evil ultra-rich folks like the Koch brothers; the rank-and-file teabaggers only understanding of the economy is what they hear from Hannity or Limbaugh.

Boehner isn't listening to the "moderate" repukes. If he were, this deal would already be done. Instead, he's allowing this group of anti-American anarchists to control the GOP, to dictate policy. And they are not about to even entertain the thought of their beloved billionaire corporations paying a single dollar more in taxes. Even if it means watching the world around them fall apart - even if it means watching what's left of the American economy collapse - they don't care. After all, they'll just blame it on the Democrats in 2012.

1. Imagine if we spent as much against them as we do the Taliban?
I can dream, right?

They do have similar ideals, when you get down to it...

3. I believe that appeasement is the greater threat
There will always be crazies. It's letting them have their way that only happens when things go very wrong.

5. Appeasing Hitler was a bad idea, but Hitler was still a very dangerous fuck
Chamberlain's appeasement of Hitler is what usually comes up when I hear talk about appeasement. Yes, appeasing is a very bad idea, but whoever you're trying to appease is still usually the greater danger.

6. The Kochs are Jim Jones with sick grins and the Tea Party members
have succumbed to the message. Many are weak and lonely people who were led easily. They need to be deprogrammed.

13. If they didn't have the tea party they'd have to create them -
oh, wait ...

Seriously, it's just theater. This is the ruling class robbing us blind again. How many times does it have to happen before people figure out what is going on?
