If Obama truly did offer to extend the Medicare age to 67
and if he will not plainly state whether or not he did or not...

this is a problem.

(i will say that if he did and *now* wishes he hadn't and that the idea will go away and that it's no longer an option...in that case it is okay if he will not say any more about this proposal --that is if it happened)

however, if it's still on the table and if he's not saying it's on the table --this is a real problem.

and if he knows that he can do this and i'll still probably vote for him, he's probably correct in that assumption.

but being right tactically and wrong morally is not why i vote for Democrats.

hell, at least Clinton told Dick Armey off when his back was against the wall.

hell, i harangued Hillary's supporters for over a year on the basis that she's the one who would've done something like this and he wouldn't.

:grr:

i really don't think raising the age will actually fly because the party has stood up to our President. but i really hate the idea that might've been the main reason the idea might not go anywhere.

maybe it's chess and maybe it's all for some wonderful progressive purpose, but to believe that i have to *trust*.

and telling me things have to be trimmed is not the way to make me trust.

:(

1. HuffPo may have lied, also any age increases are DECADES AWAY
They didn't let on to that... it's a very minimal and slow process from what I read about this concept.

So maybe a 5 year old might get it at 67 but not you.

14. I'm a nurse. I don't know if I can continue working until 67
My husband is a commercial/industrial electrician, I'm certain he can't. What are we supposed to do?

4. If he did it was to call their bluff IMHO. If the Tea Party has to choose between
their own entitlements, and increasing taxes on the uber wealthy, perhaps a whiff of reality will overcome them?

O'Donnell is a former Washington insider. I think he's on the mark with his assessment.

10. If he is using Gimmicks and tricks to call their Bluff ,then he is not negotiating in good faith.

He cannot be trusted to negotiate.

11. I think the Senate will cave & approve whatever the deal is, despite their
dire warnings about being against it now.

As for Obama saying what he offered or not, I don't know of anyone who publishes steps in negotiation while negotiations are going on. Boehner is laying out to the public the details of what he's offering, either (if anything).

No doubt the Budget Committee is being kept informed of the details. I saw one of that committee on TV, and he said he was. Not by Obama. Others involved are relaying information to the committee, who dispenses that information to the Dem. Caucus.

13. Democrats will support Obama no matter what he does.
All this hand wringing is irrelevant; Obama could personally advocate scrap Medicare and Social Security, and Democrats will line up to support him.
