7. I don't believe our government will take any steps against Murdoch
no matter what he may be proven guilty of. Too many of their own skeletons would be uncovered as a result. However, if I am giving them too little credit, and Murdoch does loose his FCC license it is more than likely someone else would buy at least those programs, if not the Fox entertainment channel in its entirety.

It's global and it's huge. If Fox was hacking phones in the US CREW and Media Matters will get them.

18. FCC Is Pretty Worthless
there used to be a day, when complying with FCC rules was taken seriously.
Then Bill Clinton signed the Telecommunications Act.

21. all the article says is that someone will try to use the scandal to challnege NewsCorp licenses
Edited on Tue Jul-12-11 09:58 AM by onenote
It doesn't suggest at all that such a challenge can or will be successful.

License challenges aren't all that uncommon. But successful challenges are almost unknown.

25. Your OP said they could lose their licenses. The story says the licenses could be challenged.
Edited on Tue Jul-12-11 11:23 AM by onenote
That is an important distinction. My post pointed out that nothing in the story suggests that any such challenge has the slightest chance of being successful. Your OP would have more accurately reflected the article you cite if it has been entitled "Challenges to Murdick Licenses Could be Filed Here because of the scandal"

All the smilies accompanying your OP suggest that you believe and wanted to convey to others that there is realistic possibility that News Corp could lose its licenses in the US. There isn't.
