7. I know,
I cannot stop myself from constantly checking for updates. It just seems too good to be true. When it first broke, I was very skeptical about whether the truth would finally come out. Do you think it will spread to the US and the Saudi involvement in the Murdoch empire. They are the second largest shareholders. The banking scandal involving them (the Saudis) was also closed prematurely. Maybe we will also find out about that.

9. I'm skeptical about the outcome in the US because I have no trust in our
institutions. Our media, DOJ and politicians are either spineless, complicit or in some cases both.

to see Murdoch's head on a pike outside the Tower of London?

11. Yeppers.
Hacking pols and cops is one thing, and bad enough, but messing with the royals and the family of a murdered little girl will definitely stir the hornets' nest of public opinion in Blighty. Can you imagine the hellacious shitstorm Murdoch's papers would be raising if this had been a center or left paper doing this? How I would love to see that old pirate walk the plank.

18. No-one cared about the royals
That was the first one to come out, five years ago. No-one cared much.

8. I notice how timid Parliament is about challenging unjust, criminal corporate POWER!
"The vote would constitute an expression of Commons opinion and not be binding on a private company. However, Ed Miliband said it was necessary sometimes for parliament to speak on behalf of public opinion."

(SNIP)

"Asked whether the government believed that News Corp should heed the will of parliament, the spokesman replied: "Ultimately, that is a decision for News Corp but we would always expect people to take seriously what parliament has said."

--from the OP (my emphasis)

----------------------------

Corporations are chartered by the state (the government) to serve the public interest. They have NO RIGHT whatsoever to do business in ANY country without the PERMISSION--in the form of a private charter subject to regulation and REVOCATION--by the sovereign power of that country, whether "we the people" here and our elected representatives, or the Queen and Parliament representing the English people! No. Right. Whatsoever.

This timidity of Parliament, in dealing with this fascist media monopolist, is a SYMPTOM of our common plight in the "western world" where government has been TAKEN OVER by predatory capitalists and war profiteers. What they are saying is that they don't DARE to tell a powerful PRIVATE corporation what to do. FURTHER, they think that it is only "SOMETIMES" necessary for parliament "to speak on behalf of public opinion" (Jeez--what IS "parliament"--a wholly owned subsidiary of Murdoch, Inc.?!), and they merely "expect" that this Destroyer of Journalism would take Parliament "seriously."

They can pull his corporate charter(s). They can dismantle his "empire" and seize his assets for the common good. They can do this with NO crimes proven because THAT is the power of a sovereign nation!

We need to get this through our heads! These corporate powers have NO RIGHT to do business here, there or in any sovereign country. None! WE charter them. WE regulate them. WE tax them. All at OUR WILL. WE give them PERMISSION to do business in OUR country.

12. Wimpish and underwhelming language
but the fact is, Murdoch will be taken down by the people, not the government.

10. K & R
Cameron should have resigned already. The fact that he hired Coulson in the middle of that coverup speaks volumes about his lack of judgement.
He is a cynical politician - power by any means necessary.

Can't wait for the coalition to crash.
