1. Sono ReTHUG first ladies are showing up? |
|
In attendance Michelle Obama; Rosalynn Carter - where is Laura Bush. I imagine Nancy Reagan isn't that well these days.

5. Laura couldn't come but George is there. |
|
Hillary is there. Bill was planning to attend but had plane problems. Nancy is there - she is really tiny.
Barbara Bush will attend the Michigan service. Lynn Cheney will speak at that service.
I can not imagine how they managed to change Hillary's schedule to make this event. But, not surprised she made it for Betty.

2. Thanks, but no thanks. |

I heard this morning, IIRC, or maybe it was yesterday, that Lynne Cheney will be speaking. While I would enjoy seeing Rosalind Carter I'm not going to take the chance that I can't get the remote fast enough to avoid even a brief sighting of Cheney.

I saw a short clip of FLOTUS and the Sec. of State, who was sitting close to ** and I was hoping that she'd hit him in the crotch.
But that's just me.

16. I remember Betty as First Lady. |
|
This guy is making a good point. Most people only know her from her post WH years.
In 1976 when Gerald Ford was running for the Presidency I was in NY. I came upon a street vendor selling t-shirts. One of the t-shirts said "Re-Elect Gerald Ford". I started laughing and asked the vendor if he knew what was wrong with the message. He had absolutely no idea. I bought one. I still have it somewhere. I never wore it because I didn't support his election so it should still be in good shape.

20. Cokie has a unique perspective. |
|
She is doing a great job of being both very personal and providing a larger perspective on the business of government. I remember Betty's strong support for the ERA. Back then it seemed so normal for a Republican wife to think for herself.
and little Nancy Reagan is none of that - she was always a silly woman

Did you see Bush kiss Michelle Obama? The ReTHUG base won't be happy!
The sad truth is that while the politicians divide the country they're all heading for the grave like the rest of us.
Nice send off for a good woman.
