1. There was obviously
no need to go that far. Much better to target the "get da gubmint outta my medicare!" crowd.

2. I don't think rational people
would think any differently than the threat over social security checks. Neither will happen. This is pure fiction.

3. The SS check thing already worked, and the interview hasn't even aired yet.
Obama is not stupid.

5. Soldiers have guns...
a lot of big guns.

It's not a good idea to piss 'em off.

6. It would not matter to the Republicans.
This sudden outrage the Republicans have about the deficit is completely contrived. Dick Cheney, himself, said "Deficits don't matter."

They are just doing this to try to make Democrats look bad in time for the elections. They are just looking for any excuse to repeat their dying cry of no taxes, blah, blah, blah. All of their posturing over this is complete and total bullshit.

If Obama did say the soldiers' pay would be at jeopardy, the Republicans would just say he is trying to pull a fast one, blah, blah, blah.

Dick Cheney: "Deficits don't matter."

Every Democrat should wear a shirt on every show they go on from here until this is resolved (to our liking) that has that quote from Dick Cheney on it...just to point out how contrived this whole Republican outcry is re:deficits.
