today somehow makes things final? What's to prevent boner and turtle from changing positions tomorrow, the next day, the day after that, etc?

There is no agreement on anything at this point. Plus even after an 'agreement' there has to be a favorable vote in both Houses of Congress. Until then there is nothing.

In the battle. I'm not seeing it that way because we all knew the Repubs were bluffing. They basically said they were...but just the possibility that they wouldn't allowed them a significant amount of power.
I don't like this "compromise" they floated today. It sounds like they get what they want and can claim they fought it...like the Romneycare.
