And it starts: "No More Blank Checks" ad. Who's worse, KKKarl's group or FireDogLake?!1
Edited on Tue Jul-12-11 11:28 PM by UTUSN
The t.v. was running as background noise as usual, and I was stopped stone cold by a political commercial ripping the president in the most brutal and effective way. So I looked to see who was the instigating producer and it was something called "No More Blank Checks for OBAMA." And Googling that brought up Crossroads GPS, which Wiki informs is one of KKKarl's flying monkeys. But the Google also turned up FireDogLake's commentary on it, which zapped the president from the Left side. Even after the initial deja vu of the Harry and Louise hit job commercials that the future president of AARP produced against Hillary's health care program back then, I was left wondering which was worse, KKKarl's group or FDL.

Tell Obama no more blank checks Video

I believe this national ad is running today in Wisconsin, because today is the primary for state Senate recall elections. I could be wrong about that. It might just be part of a larger national, “GrandMa can eat more catfood,” campaign.

I think it’s important to understand what the other side is saying.

This post is in no way a defense of the President and the Dems. If they had enacted legislation in his first two-years, that he campaigned on, the Dems never would have lost the House and we wouldn’t be looking at a government shut down. Below is a very high level summary of legislation that could have been passed his first two-years in office. ....

American Crossroads is a 527 organization that has raised and spent tens of millions of dollars to defend and elect Republican candidates to federal office, and was very active in the 2010 U.S. midterm elections.<1> Its president is Steven J. Law, a former United States Deputy Secretary of Labor for President George W. Bush and the Chairman of the Board of Directors is former Republican National Committee chairman Mike Duncan. Advisers to the group include Senior Advisor and former White House Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove and former Counselor to the President and Republican National Committee chairman Ed Gillespie.

3. A lot on the left are zapping Obama - there's nothing wrong
with that. I feel FDL has gone off the rails a few times, but on the whole it's okay. Everybody should have a voice.

6. ?
What does that mean? If he killed your grandma, you'd be okay with that because he's a Dem? And if not, that means you do have a line Obama simply hasn't crossed your personal line. Well he's sure as hell crossed mine. I've been a registered Democrat half of my life (The other half I was too young to vote) I am considering changing my registration to Independent because I don't think I want to be affiliated with the right-wing, corporate ass kissing Democrat Party. I also don't want to be affiliated with folks who defend the President right or wrong simply because he's a Democrat.

7. Yeah, I've heard "reasons" for going 3rd party or Independent or WORSE all my life.
I've heard the No-Difference yak and the RAYGUN Dems (who never came back) and the Cafeteria voters (picking and choosing from all parties) who expect to go to the head of the line when a Dem finally wins (head of the line past the stalwarts who have always been in line).

And I've supported Dems of all stripes, including the loser McGOVERN when all I wanted was somebody to BEAT NIXON. I wish I had kept his letter. I wrote to him during his primaries telling him I admired him for his character and idealism but that the most important thing was to BEAT NIXON and I deeply believed he couldn't do that and asked him to step aside and let somebody who might have a better chance to BEAT NIXON do so. Whether he or just staff dictated the letter, it looked like a real signature of his, saying I-think-I-can-win-hope-you-will-give-me-a-chance...

I wish I had kept the letter.

8. Well that's me, too, but even on DU, there are many who are
unhappy with him. That's their right. They can say what they want, their opinions don't change mine, but if they don't vote, or vote for a third party, I do feel that is the ultimate betrayal. Not only to the Dem party, but to the people of our country because we KNOW how horrific it would be under a Bachmann, for example.

I was just watching, off and on, a movie called Swing Kids, about the youth in Germany during the rise of Hitler. Have you seen it? I thought over and over, this could so easily happen here, and we get closer every day. Not voting Dem will help usher it in even more quickly. They say there's no difference between the two, or Obama is a Republican aren't being realistic.

So, I'm with you, but I think the others who don't feel as we do need a forum, too. Just as long as they vote the "right way". :7

16. No, they've never had a reason, and never needed one.
Their Obama-bashing has been ongoing since long before Election Day 2008. And there is NO grounds whatsoever for their behavior, ranging from the outright racist drivel they published during the 2008 campaign, to allying with Grover Norquist, taking money to help elect Republicans, to now apparently getting their talking points piped straight from Karl Rove.

15. The Firebaggers taking their talking points straight from Karl Rove? I'm shocked!!!!11one!
After all, just because the place is run by someone who is paid to elect Republicans to office, that doesn't mean they could possibly have a hidden agenda, right?
